The work perhaps calls into question ‘The System’ and its failures – the bureaucracy, the tape, the surveillance, the stereotypes – and its dehumanising effects: we can be perceived as commodities.
Commodities become transient, displaced and are quickly made obsolete.
The music generated by the pianola rolls might once have filled the space, set free into the city and beyond.
A momentary act of defiant joy for inhabitants trapped in machine-like living.
